When committing to a health and wellness lifestyle, it is very important to be cognizant of what you are eating. Diet is one of the most important aspects of health and it can be one of the hardest things to change and change correctly. Just as you should avoid judging a book by its cover, don't judge food by its label. Many products will claim to be “premium” or “gourmet” but that does not necessarily mean the products are superior in any way. Here are some words to watch out for on product labels: fancy, quality, select, premium, natural, organic. Not only are people more willing to buy these products, they are willing to pay more too.
By no means am I saying that you should not buy premium or organic products; you should, however it is important to read the label beyond a catchy title or meaningless adjective. The next time you are at the grocery store, take a look around and notice how many products have labels with words from the previous list. Unfortunately, these unsubstantiated claims of quality are everywhere. That is why it is especially important to take a deeper look at the labels and make sure that “premium” piece of ham you are buying is actually of the finest quality.
